A statement from the Women’s Insurance Network follows below:
The Women’s Insurance Network (WIN) marked a meaningful milestone this year as they celebrated three years since their inauguration on International Women’s Day 2023. To honour the occasion, WIN hosted a special event at Hassans International Law Firm, bringing together over 60 professionals from across Gibraltar’s insurance and financial services sectors for a morning of connection, reflection, and inspiration.
At the heart of the event was a thought-provoking panel discussion moderated by Marlene Dalli from the Ministry of Equality, whose insight and warmth set the tone for an engaging and honest conversation. Under her guidance, the panel explored a theme that resonates The courage it takes to pivot, grow, or redefine one’s path,
The Women’s Insurance Network (WIN) Gibraltar is proud to enter its fourth year and highlight the continued success of its free mentoring scheme, designed to support women at every stage of their insurance career.
The programme pairs women working in the industry with experienced mentors, both women and men, who volunteer their time to offer guidance, encouragement, and practical support. Sessions can be one off, short term, or ongoing, depending on the needs of the mentee. All mentoring relationships are confidential, flexible, and tailored to the individual.
From navigating performance reviews to tackling technical topics, mentors provide a safe space for women to build confidence, develop new skills, and progress professionally.
John Harris, Business Development Director for Strategic Risk Solutions, a mentor from the start of the program, shared his experience of the program and has said:
“Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring through the Gibraltar Women in Insurance (WIN) organisation. It has been incredibly rewarding to support my mentee through a structured mentoring programme and to witness their growth both personally and professionally. Throughout our journey, I’ve seen them develop confidence, expand their knowledge, and ultimately achieve significant milestones, including being approved as a regulated individual. Watching their dedication and progress has been inspiring, and I’m proud to have played a part in their success.”
This testimonial reflects the heart of WIN’s mission: to create a supportive, inclusive community where women can thrive, share knowledge, and access opportunities that accelerate their development.
WIN Chair Erika Pozo said: “The morning at Hassans was more than an event; it was a celebration of how far WIN has come since its launch in 2023. In just three years, we have built a vibrant, supportive community that champions women’s voices, fosters professional growth, and drives positive change in a safe environment.
Our mentoring scheme is one of the impactful initiatives we offer. The feedback from both mentors and mentees shows how transformative these relationships can be, not just for career progression, but for confidence, connection, and long-term growth within Gibraltar’s insurance sector.
As we reflect on these achievements, we are incredibly proud of the work we do, and the impact WIN continues to make across Gibraltar’s insurance community. Our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities remains stronger than ever. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the industry, HMGoG, and Association of British Insurers in the UK, as we build on this foundation, and drive even greater progress together.”
The Women’s Insurance Network encourages women at all levels, from those just entering the industry to seasoned professionals seeking fresh perspective to take part. The program is open, free, and designed to fit around busy schedules.
