rgp mid term campSchool Liaison Officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police’s Neighbourhood Policing Unit recently held a mid-term camp for children aged 8 to 10. The twenty-one participating children were treated to a range of activities balanced between exposing them to police work and fun activities.

On Monday the 28th of October the children enjoyed negotiating an assault course, the next day they were treated to a visit of New Mole House Police Headquarters which included the Custody Suite, Control Room and Crime Scene Investigator’s Office where they were shown fingerprinting techniques.

Wednesday the 30th saw the children visit the Marine Section where they sailed on the RGP vessels and on Thursday they met the police dogs for a display. Thursday also saw the children dress up in Halloween costumes and each was given a bag containing sweets kindly donated by Cisarego & Sons.

On the final day of the mid-term camp the children visited the King’s Bastion Leisure Centre where they ice-skated, played a game of bowls and where later treated to lunch. Following lunch each child was presented with an attendance certificate.

Throughout the week the children practised their investigative skills playing, Cluedo, “Solve the Mystery” and related learning activities. The camp is a continuation of the RGP’s community engagement strategy and prevention through education.

SLO’s PC 99 Debono and PC199 Rodriguez run the camp and are pictured in the attached photograph.
