Dec 15 - Gibtelecom Director Thanks Dr Garcia as Board Shift Accommodates Government Buy Back
The Gibtelecom Board met late last week to successfully complete the buy-back of Telekom Slovenije’s 50 per cent shareholding in the Company, by the Gibraltar Government. This followed the signing of a Share Purchase Agreement between the two parties on 17 November 2014.
A shift in the board sees Chief Minister Fabian Picardo take on the role of Chairman, and new Director, Albert Mena, be appointed. The Chief Executive Officer, Tim Bristow thanked Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Garcia for his work as Chairman, noting that “the pivotal role he had played in leading the Board at a time when the business has been developing and growing at both home and abroad”. He added, ‘Dr Garcia will be much missed but we all look forward to working with the new Chairman and Board in taking the Company on its continuing journey.’
Following Telekom Slovenije’s exit Gibtelecom’s Board is currently comprised of four Directors: the Chairman, Fabian Picardo; the Chief Executive Officer, Tim Bristow; Dilip Dayaram Tirathdas and Albert Mena.
