The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
With much speculation surrounding the GFA’s recently announced proposed UEFA Category 4 stadium for Gibraltar, the Association has said that the controversial proposal, which places the stadium at Europa Point, is merely a ‘concept proposal, which in most cases is no more than an outline of a footprint on a suggested plot of land’.
Environment Minister Dr John Cortes launched Gibraltar’s Geoportal this morning. The web project provides vast amounts of geographical data on Gibraltar including aerial views, land use details and even geological features. The Geoportal is part of the Government’s drive to transpose and implement all EU directives and will provide tourists, researchers, planners and the curious with an ever-evolving and in-depth picture of Gibraltar.
