Nov 01 - Noise Making Sends Monkeys Back Up the Rock

monkeysThe Department of the Environment is continuing with its strategy to remove the Barbary Macaques frequenting urban ‘hot spots’, through the use of noisemakers. The method was successful some months back, but it is essential to periodically repeat this.

Noise-makers will cause loud ‘banging’ noises in the areas of Laguna Estate, Trafalgar and Gardiner’s Road. The operation will commence today and will run for a period of two or three weeks. Further information of any expansion of ‘hot spots’, which may be tackled with firecrackers, is to be issued shortly.

newsThis year’s Remembrance Day Service at the London Cenotaph will see the Gibraltar Health Authority’s Sigurd Haveland represent his colleagues in the Civil Service contingent Guard of Honour.

The GHA has today stated that ‘it is an honour and a privilege for the Gibraltar Ambulance Service to have one of its own form part of the 180 strong guard, drawn from uniformed organisations such Police services and Transport Police from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, Fire and Rescue services from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, Ambulance Services from England, Wales and Gibraltar and Her Majesty’s Prison Service from Northern Ireland and Scotland.’

Nov 05 - Royal Gibraltar Police Vs Northamptonshire Constabulary Football Match

RGP Football Team Vs NorthamptonshireThe Royal Gibraltar Police’s football team flew to the United Kingdom this past weekend and competed in a football match against the Northamptonshire Constabulary. The opportunity arose following contacts between Commissioner Eddie Yome of the RGP and Deputy Chief Constable Martin Jelley of Northamptonshire Constabulary. Both officers attended the same Strategic Command Course in 2008 and have maintained a close professional and personal relationship since then.
