    The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, has visited Sacred Heart Middle School at the invitation of Year 7 children who had been studying the 1967 Referendum as part of a school-wide local history initiative. He then took questions on the Referendum and on how the political process works in Gibraltar. Mr Picardo gave the children a unique insight into how local politics functions.

jazz fest With Gibraltar’s Tourist season slowly winding into it’s low season, yesterday’s launch of the second Gibraltar International Jazz Festival hopes to reel in further outsiders to Gibraltar, for an extended weekend of jazz music at the recently renovated Queen’s Theatre. In an attempt to up the ante following last year’s inaugural Jazz festival, the line up has seen the addition of well loved television presenter and jazz man, Jools Holland and former Spice girl, Mel C to this year’s line up.
