The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Director of Border Force South is in Gibraltar this week to oversee a multi-agency law enforcement exercise which is set to take place in BGTW tomorrow. The Border Force currently has two cutters which are stopping over in Gibraltar on their way back to Portsmouth.
Prior Park Gibraltar's Headmaster, Peter Watts, introduced himself to parents at The Rock Hotel last night. Mr Watts shared his vision for the new school which is set to open in September 2016 at the former Sacred Heart campus in the Upper Town. Mr Watts’s presentation expressed his excitement for the project and the plans for the academic and co-curricular provision.
The Government says it is continuing its efforts to reach the EU target of improving its energy efficiency by 20% by 2020; as part of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). The EED establishes a set of binding measures to help EU countries reach this target. Energy audits form part of this initiative to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Improving energy efficiency can deliver a range of benefits to the economy and to society. More efficient use of energy results in energy and monetary savings, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions which helps the environment.
