The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The DPC last Thursday approved a number of suggested improvements to the World Trade Center Gibraltar application, including an internal atrium from the ground floor to the seventh with a landscaped garden, ‘towers’ that provide an eye-line focus on the north and south elevations, increased glazing, and a ‘wave’ roofline.
The Government of Gibraltar has recently opened its own office in Hong Kong. The new facility will be a showcase for Gibraltar and will serve as a stepping stone into the ever-growing Chinese market, not only for Gibraltar’s financial services industry but also as a shop window for many other sectors of our economy.
The GSD has renewed its call for the Government to explain whether Spanish Fishermen will have to apply for a licence in Gibraltar in order to fish in BGTW.
