The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Government has said that the latest statement by the Opposition regarding criticism of Mr Feetham on Facebook is a “feeble attempt to turn the tables after he has put his foot his foot in it.”
The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, has visited Sacred Heart Middle School at the invitation of Year 7 children who had been studying the 1967 Referendum as part of a school-wide local history initiative. He then took questions on the Referendum and on how the political process works in Gibraltar. Mr Picardo gave the children a unique insight into how local politics functions.
‘Rock and Fortress,’ the private concern that has been managing and operating the World War Two Tunnels and O’Hara’s Battery attractions has been taken over by the Government. The new arrangements will come into place on November 1st.
