The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Last weekend played host to the fifth edition of Ocean Village’s Cardboard Boat Race. Well over £1,000 was raised on the day, with proceeds set to go to a number of Gibraltar sports Associations to aid junior development, as well as the GBC Open Day fund.
Winner of both the Adult and Junior race was O’Reilly’s with best Fancy Dress awarded to the JP Haulage Romans. Best Boat was awarded to the RAF Titanic and the Best Titanic Sinking was won by Life of Pi. Miss Gibraltar 2013 Maroua Kharbouch presented participants with their prizes.
Deputy Provincial Councillor of the Partido Andalucista, Jose Maria España has this week asked Algeciras Mayor, Sr. Landaluce why the Spanish Government has not lifted the artificial reef, if it is in Spanish waters. He also calls upon the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to determine clearly where Spanish waters end, in the bay.
The Government has today taken note of the Spanish authorities attempts to deny export permission for the supply of rock, sand and aggregates destined for projects in Gibraltar.
The Government has already identified sourced alternative sources of supplies and will shortly be finalising these alternative arrangements.
