Sex, it's Awesome!

Our fascination with erotica, both in the written form and visually, is a subject that has always been of controversy in society. There is a very fine line between what I call erotica, and full on pornography, which authors, artists and photographers like to cross and dip a toe into; the darker side of our sexual preferences.

The 50 shades series of books have caught the attention of many a bored housewife for that reason. Deep down inside we all want to be whisked away by a mysterious, very able and exciting lover.

Thinking about it would give most of us that thrill that we have not felt since those first awkward fumblings behind the bicycle shed at St Georges all catholic school in 1977.

Sexual awareness is a powerful thing in our adolescence. It’s the beginnings of what will be the driving force in our lives, the need to procreate. Humans and Bonobo Chimpanzees are the only creatures on land to shag for fun. In Bonobo society, the female will placate the males by offering themselves to the fighting primates, in what was first believed as a submissive gesture, but now scientists have concluded that the females use sex for their own pleasure and to gain favour.

Pets

All a round the world, without exception, humans keep pets. In the UK almost every other household keeps at least one. There are many benefits for keeping an animal and many doctors would agree that there are health benefits to be had too.

Pets can decrease your Blood Pressure, Stress levels, and feelings of loneliness. And through your choice of pet there are great opportunities for exercise and socialisation.

Your choice of pet should be one that suits your lifestyle and family composition, and if you are single like me, your pet should be the kind of animal that requires very little in the way of care and attention.

I have a pet newt, it was given to me and I find them to be fascinating creatures. They require nothing more than regular changes of water and food every two to three days.

I am a carnivore

I am well equipped to deal with flesh. I take great pleasure in eating meat, but are we really Carnivores, Herbivores or Omnivores?

The design of the human mouth and teeth, coupled with the single chamber digestive system all point to Omnivore. However, our Omnivorous ways are more due to our ability to cope with a vast selection of food items, rather than specialising in one particular food group that would have hindered us as a species.

Studies have concluded that humans have a gastrointestinal tract of a well and truly devoted Herbivore. If I had had socks on, they would have been blown off at the news that we are really all a bunch of vegetarians?

In years gone by, the hunting of meals on legs would give us the protein we required to build strong muscles and bone structure to hunt for bigger animals, and ultimately to wage war on your neighbouring cave dwellers.

The Irish Royal Visit

The Queen visited Belfast the day before yesterday. She was greeted by thousands, who had been waiting for hours to get a glimpse of her and her husband.

There where lots of flags and the Northern Irish capital was in a grip of royal fervor, much as Gibraltar was a couple of weeks ago.

Well not all of Belfast was caught up in a royal fervor. The other inhabitants, those against British rule, made their point very clear by painting in very large letters Erin is our Queen, and graffiti popping up all around the city telling Lizzie that she could stuff her jubilee.

So much can be said about her visit being inappropriate, at least for those who do not support the Monarchy, and the spate of unrest culminating in the arrest of at least 100 people and leaving nine injured in the Broadway area for rioting, has once again pulled off the scab and exposed the old festering wound.

Space Travel

Imagine if you wish, a giant star ship hurtling through space at 67,000 miles per hour, not exactly light speed but then again it doesn't need to be fast. The star ship needs to spin on its axis at 1070 miles an hour to maintain normal gravity.

The shape of the star ship is spherical, as this is the best shape to afford the most surface area. Encased in a state of the art shield, it can deflect or absorb most space debris it encounters.

Continue to imagine this interstellar ship making it's way through the cold expanse of space; no one is driving as it is on autopilot, the trajectory pre programmed. The crew, busy with the mundane task of living on the giant ship, the circumference of which is just under 25,000 miles.

The crew has everything they need for the voyage, air, water, food and the right environment, but the resources are not infinite.
