May 21 – Fabian Picardo Re-elected As GSLP Leader At AGM
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo was re-elected as the leader of the GSLP at a packed out annual general meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Picardo spoke of the Government’s success in achieving the vast majority of the 2011 manifesto especially in regard to housing, employment, the Gibraltar University, The Gibraltar International Bank and the new power station.
He also mentioned the shallow criticism coming from the GSD, and Daniel Feetham in particular, with the inconsistencies in their press releases, trying to score political points with scaremongering tactics.
Mr Picardo finished his address at the John Mackintosh Hall on Sunday by urging all GSLP members to join together to make the forthcoming election the greatest success ever for the party and for Gibraltar.
Four motions were presented and passed unanimously to help strengthen party policies, in particular education, housing, employment and training and the Referendum Act.
There were also elections held for the party executive, and Alan Asquez, Pepe Baldachino, Derek Desoiza, Jared Negron and Charlie Robba were elected to serve in the committee for the next two years.
