The Government says that the comments from the Ministry of Defence on the power station project, contained in a letter dated 11 August 2015, “have been overtaken by events” and, as a result, show that “once again the Opposition have jumped the gun and chosen to attack the Government without being in possession of all the facts.”
The GSD opposition says it notes “with great interest” the report in today’s Gibraltar Chronicle expressing the concerns of the MoD regarding the LNG power station and aviation safety. The GSD says it is pleased that information “previously withheld” by Government from members of the DPC at the meeting to “rubber stamp” the power station Environmental Impact Assessment has now come into the public domain.
The Government says it has today commenced legislation expanding the suite of products that may be offered in the area of Trusts. The Purpose Trusts Act, the Trusts (Private International Law) Act and the Private Trust Companies Act are now in force and available to clients of the finance sector.
The Government says that it considers that the incident of 11 September, where local vessels were rammed by a Guardia Civil RHIB, was “dangerous and irresponsible”. Number Six adds that this incident was also “a serious challenge to British sovereignty”. The incident is the latest in a series of serious incursions that have included Spanish helicopters hovering metres above the ground and shots being fired in BGTW by Spanish SVA officers.
