Gibraltar has been at the forefront of the world’s media, with the news of Sunday’s incursions into Gibraltar waters being covered as far as China and Australia.
The Minister for Europe, David Lidington, has today reiterated the UK's protest against the unlawful incursions on 9 August in writing to Spanish Minister for Europe, Fernando Eguidazu Palacios.
The Government says the Mayor of Algeciras is not aware of the reality of the fight against drug trafficking in Gibraltar.
Gibraltar’s New Movement says it condemns what it describes as the “outrageous” Spanish air and sea incursions over the weekend. The pressure group says it would like answers as to why the Spanish Government and the Spanish authorities fail to inform the Gibraltar authorities and proceed to take executive action within BGTW.
The Voice of Gibraltar Group says it notes the “recent unacceptable activities of the Spanish authorities” adding that it was expecting something to happen this month following on from the comments of the PP government “which show they continue to hope to use Gibraltar as a distraction from their failures.”
