A short ceremony was held this morning in the Parliament lobby to mark Workers’ Memorial Day. The ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, union leaders and representatives of Gibraltar’s essential services.
The Opposition notes what it describes as some of the “extraordinary comments” made last night by the Chief Minister in the GBC Viewpoint debate with the Leader of the Opposition. The GSD says that the Leader of the Opposition has a constitutional obligation to question the Government’s handling of the public finances of Gibraltar and to continue to highlight any concerns. According to the party, last night, once again, the Chief Minister “failed to address any of the legitimate concerns raised not just by the GSD Opposition but many people in Gibraltar.”
The Gibraltar Savings Bank has reviewed the rate of return it offers on its savings in the light of the very low inflation and the interest rates offered on Sterling Deposits in the market.

The Government has today published a Command Paper for a Gibraltar Consultative Council Act. The proposed Act reflects the decision of the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, to propose a body for Gibraltar which would be similar to the Privy Council in UK. This proposal was included within the Chief Minister’s Budget Speech in June 2014.
