Gibraltar Welcomes Record-Breaking Number of Cruise Calls in April

The Gibraltar Tourist Board (GTB) has announced a record-breaking number of cruise calls during the month of April 2025, “reaffirming Gibraltar’s position as a leading port of call in the Mediterranean. “A total of 41 cruise calls were recorded last month, including three inaugural visits, bringing thousands of international visitors to the Rock.

Among the vessels making their maiden call were the Mein Schiff Relax and Zuiderdam, each greeted with a traditional plaque exchange ceremony to mark the occasion. The arrivals represent a notable increase compared to April 2024, when Gibraltar welcomed 29 cruise ships, a year-on- year growth of over 41%.

A statement continued: “Looking ahead, Gibraltar is on track to receive almost 240 cruise calls in 2025, surpassing last year’s total of 187. With enhanced shore excursion offerings, port service upgrades, and new strategic partnerships with leading cruise lines, the GTB continues its drive to make Gibraltar a marquee destination on every Mediterranean itinerary, whilst remaining committed to sustainable growth in the cruise sector, ensuring that economic benefits go hand in hand with the preservation of Gibraltar’s cultural heritage and natural environment.”

Minister for Tourism, Christian Santos, said: “This record April is a clear testament to Gibraltar’s growing appeal within the cruise industry. The increase in cruise calls shows that our efforts in promoting Gibraltar to cruise operators is working and we are not just attracting more ships, we’re attracting the right kind of ships, those that value culture, quality excursions, and the unique character that Gibraltar offers. I look forward to welcoming many more visitors throughout what promises to be one of our strongest cruise seasons yet.”
