A statement from the Government follows below:
The Gibraltar Tourist Board is delighted to announce the remarkable success of this year’s media campaign promoting the Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival 2025, which continues to raise the Rock’s profile as an international centre for culture, arts and ideas.
Recent campaign reporting highlights the impressive reach of interviews conducted with Grant Harrold, Wayne Sleep and John Suchet, three of the festival’s distinguished participants. These interviews were hosted across BBC regional stations throughout the UK, collectively reaching an estimated audience of nearly 4 million people nationwide.
In addition, a pre-recorded interview with John Suchet was syndicated across 110 independent radio stations, generating a further audience reach of 2,774,260 listeners. This extensive national coverage showcases Gibraltar’s growing appeal as a vibrant cultural destination and underlines the festival’s success in attracting international attention.
Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism The Hon. Christian Santos GMD MP commented on these results:
“The Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival has once again demonstrated the Rock’s unique ability to attract acclaimed authors, journalists, broadcasters and performers. The reach achieved across the UK highlights the festival’s success and reinforces Gibraltar’s position as a destination that celebrates culture, creativity and connection and draws visitors through its rich history and welcoming community.”
The continued efforts of the Gibraltar Tourist Board, Gibraltar Cultural Services and its partners are extending the festival’s influence far beyond the Rock and cementing Gibraltar’s reputation as a hub for arts and culture at the crossroads of Europe and Africa.
