Minister for Civil Contingencies, Samantha Sacramento, together with Ivor Lopez; Civil Contingencies Coordinator, visited the Citizens’ Advice Bureau to thank them for their work in supporting the public during the Covid-19 lockdown.
A statement from the Chief Minister follows below:
Mr Speaker, the House will recall that questions 450 to 469 which were asked and answered on Monday related to the retirement of former Commissioner of Police, Mr Ian McGrail.
Mr Speaker, the following day, on Tuesday the lawyers representing Mr McGrail, issued a statement on his behalf in relation to the exchanges in this House.
In that statement Mr McGrail's lawyers said that he ‘now firmly believes that the circumstances leading up to’ his early retirement ‘requires a definitive, well informed and detailed assessment.’
Unite, the union says it has welcomed the increase in the minimum wage that is due to come into force on the 1st August, rising from £7 per hour to £7.25, but states that this minimum rate of pay demonstrates the need for a "real living wage" in Gibraltar.
