The Opposition Spokesman for Sports and Leisure, the Hon Edwin Reyes, has sent messages wishing the very best of Gibraltarian luck in all their competitions, to the two men’s and two ladies’ local hockey teams who will be participating in the following International Competitions over the next few days:
This year’s Ladies Football Club Tournament fixtures will be ass follows; on Sunday 5th May Manchester United FC will play the College Cosmos at 6pm. The next round will see College Europa play Manchester United FC on Wednesday 8th May at 6:15pm.
Gibraltar based Dan Aldridge recently secured himself a spot in the final qualifying stage of the 2013 PGA EuroPro Tour finishing 2 over par over 36 holes. The tournament’s first round qualifier was held in Stoke by Nayland Essex. The final stage at Frilford Heath was to be contested over 54 holes with a cut to be made after 36 holes. 240 players completed the first part of the final stage and 120 plus ties made the cut, including Dan, to compete for a category in the 2013 PGA EuroPro Tour season. Dan eventually finished, the 3 days, 6 over allowing him Category 11.
Jenni Smith, former National Advisor to Great Britain and the International Synchronised Ice Skating teams no coaches local figure skating team, the Rock Gems, which is made up of locals Bobbie Holgate Pope, Gabriella Chipol, Emma Marshall, Tara Tirathdas, Holly Hart HiAerin Victory, Alicia Linares, and Adelle Victory.
The young team recently brought home their second Gold medal following a stint at the annual Blackpool Ice Festival that ran from 1st – 5th April. The team fought against well-established teams from the United Kingdom, but had a clear win.
Within the Solo figure skating category, 12-year-old Bobbie Holgate Pope won silver with 9-year-old Tara Tiranthdas winning bronze in the same category.
