The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Clock to Rock, in aid of Cancer Relief and the Gibraltar Disability Society, are having a fundraising morning this Saturday 18th July, in Casemates Square. Mark Cooper, Simon Morgan and Graham Dyer will be finishing their Clock to Rock event - cycling from Big Ben to Casemates – and will arrive at midday.
Lions Gibraltar FC have signed up Juan Luis Perez Herrera as their head coach. This appointment was formally approved yesterday by the Board of the newly acquired Lions and the parties have agreed terms and signed a contract that will see Mr Perez lead Lions senior team in this year’s league, cup and hopefully if successful European campaign. Mr Perez, who is a UEFA qualified coach, with considerable experience, had previously led another local team to European success. He expressed confidence that given the resources in terms of current and future signings he would be able to achieve success, particularly given the depth of the youth programmes in Lions.
The Government of Gibraltar has published the Equal Opportunities Act 2006 (Amendment) Regulations 2015, which arises from a reinterpretation of the requirements under EU Directives. One of main changes in the legislation is to extend the protected strands under the Equal Opportunities Act to transgender individuals.
