ukipFollowing a few weeks of its popularity rising in the polls, UKIP last week visited Gibraltar in an effort to launch their European Parliament election campaign, ahead of May’s voting day. Heading the campaign is former Tory Minister Neil Hamilton, who attributes his move to the UK Independence Party in 2002 to the decision to ‘start going straight’, following a number of turbulent years representing the Tories in Parliament.

The candidate presented to an almost empty room at the Eliott Hotel on Friday evening was Gawain Towler, a former UKIP Press Officer and small business owner. He pledged to bring a new wave of representation for Gibraltar in Brussels, insisting that he will ‘listen, speak, shout and cause as much hassle as possible’.

Apr 14 - The Gibraltar Darts Trophy 2014

This year’s Dart Trophy event will take place from Friday 27th June to Sunday 29th June at the Tercentenary Hall. There will be a total of five sessions with the big final on Sunday 29th June at 17.30. Once again all the top darts players from around the world including Phil Taylor, Michael Van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis and many more including Gibraltar’s own Dylan Duo and Dyson Parody will be competing for the top prize of £20,000.

Apr 14 - Unite Pushes for MoD Workers Pay Addition Claim

uniteChristian Duo Acting Regional Officer of Unite the Union Gibraltar recently attended high level meetings in London including a meeting at the Union's head Office with the National Officer for the MoD & Government Departments.

The main purpose of the visit was to discuss a pay addition claim for locally entered civilians working for MoD Gibraltar, in order to encompass any prevailing local economic pressures. This adjustment is already recognised by MoD for UK Based Civilians posted to Gibraltar.
