The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Ministry of Culture has announced that the organisation for the gastronomy festival ‘Calentita’ has been awarded to Word of Mouth on a three year application. Word of Mouth was the only applicant.
The Ministry is working closely with Word of Mouth in order to provide a very enjoyable evening that will include several innovations.
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo yesterday addressed a Business Outlook Conference hosted by the premier of the British Virgin Islands, where he is currently visiting. Speaking as one of the head speakers on ‘ Smart Government – Critical to the Global Competitiveness of Small territories’ Picardo stressed the importance of modernising administrations in terms of both technology and attitude. He explained his e-government platform that is set to be launched imminently. This will serve to make Government services more accessible and information more readily available.
Customs officers this morning disrupted an attempt to unlawfully export a commercial quantity of cigarettes
The incident saw a Spanish registered vehicle driving into the loop exit road to Spain at Winston Churchill Avenue where it was stopped and challenged by Customs officers.
