Apr 02 - Europa Shooting Incident Update - Galia Charged for Fraud by False Representation

rgpWith regards to the recent shooting incident at Europa Point, 38-year-old Mark Galia has been arrested by the RGP on suspicion of Fraud by False Representation, and attempting to pervert the course of public justice.

Mr. Galia of 9 Sea Daffodil House Waterport Terraces has been charged with three counts of Fraud by False Representation and one count of Doing an Act tending and intending to pervert the course of public justice. He will appear before the court tomorrow morning at 10am.

Apr 02 - Man Sectioned at KGV Following Aggressive Behaviour

rgpLast Thursday, as a result of a request from family members, a squad of Police Officers wearing protective equipment had to forcibly execute a search warrant under the Crimes Act in a residence.

The family of the detained person made the request after the man began behaving in an aggressive manner and habitually abusing controlled drugs. The inidivdual became increasing violent towards the officers that detained him.

Apr 02 - Laguna Youth Club Easter Fun Day

lagunaThe Laguna Youth Club’s Easter Fun Day and Community Event, with the support of the Laguna Tenants Group and the Royal Gibraltar Police, took place on Saturday 23 March.

The idea for this event came about over a month ago and, after a lot of planning and effort,  the youth club, in conjunction with the Tenant’s Association and RGP, were able to deliver what was unquestionably an enjoyable day for all.

Apr 02 - Government Claims Opposition Failed to Engage with Them Over IOSCO Issue

government logoResponding to the recent GSD statement on Gibraltar’s failure to meet its obligations under the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (‘IOSCO’), the Government has insisted that it is important to clarify that Gibraltar is not blacklisted. They add that Gibraltar is on the same list of non-signatories as it was when the GSD was in office.

‘The MMOU was established in 2002. The GSD themselves did nothing to progress the signing by Gibraltar of the MMOU. In 2009, Gibraltar indicated that it was committed to sign the MMOU. The GSD failed to secure signature of the MMOU by December 2011.
