The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
In a highly unusual move, two representatives from the Spanish Guardia Civil attended this evening’s Queen’s Birthday Parade in Casemates. The two officers - wearing their traditional ceremonial ‘tricornios’ but without their weapons - were seated behind Minister Paul Balban and right next to Rob Garner, the Commanding Officer of the Gibraltar Squadron.
As from 22nd June, Childline’s free telephone 8008 helpline and online service will be officially available to any adult who has suffered abuse during childhood. Over the years Childline has received many calls from adults suffering the long-term effects of past abuse, who are still trying to come to terms with the harm that has been done to them.
Yesterday, the Minister for Financial Services and Gaming, Albert Isola, met with Bermuda's Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon E.T. (Bob) Richards. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance located within the Government Administration Building in Hamilton, Bermuda.
