Sep 03 - Feetham to Attend National Day Rally

feethamGSD Leader Daniel Feetham has accepted the SDGG’s invitation to the National Day Rally. Mr. Feetham does so in order to highlight the importance of solidarity amongst all the people of Gibraltar on a day of national celebration, ‘at a time when our rights as a people are under particular threat’.

For the sake of clarity the Leader of the opposition has said that his attendance at the rally does not signify an abandonment of the GSD’s long held position that since the New Constitution, Gibraltar enjoys a maximum level of self-Government short of independence and compatible with continued British sovereignty.  That also remains the position of the United Kingdom Government as publicly expressed by them on numerous occasions.

Sep 03 - Regiment Selection Weekend Success

rgpTwenty-two young men attended the Royal Gibraltar Regiment’s selection course last weekend. The hopeful candidates were tested on their physical fitness and teamwork. They also received presentations on what the next steps would be for them in training.

Seventeen of the 22 candidates on the selection weekend will now go on to complete a three week pre-training course in Gibraltar in preparation for the six month Combat Infantryman’s course. Five other candidates will join the B Company for the reserves Trained Soldier Course, conducted during training nights and weekends over several months.

Sep 03 - New FSC Chief Executive Appointed

fscThe Financial Services Commission has announced that Mrs Samantha Barrass has been appointed as the Commission’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mrs Barrass will join the Commission on the 17th February 2014 from her current role as an Executive Director of the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) in England and Wales, where she has been at the forefront of delivering the SRA’s high profile reform of legal services regulation.
