The Marisquería Mara, which is owned by the same company that operates the Modelo cafeterias in La Linea and Gibraltar, has clinched this year’s prize for best tapa during La Linea’s annual Ruta de la Tapa food festival. The restaurant’s “rollitos de rosada en langostino a la crema” was chosen by judges as the city’s best tapa.
Maroua Kharbouch, Miss Gibraltar 2013, successfully made it to the final 6 contestants earlier today at the Miss World 2013 Pageant.
Maroua, who was awarded with the People's Choice was photographed on the final stage, hand in hand with Miss Spain, an image that most have thought very powerful after months of heated relationships between both countries.
This evening, as from 6 pm, Ocean Village hot spot, Dusk, will open its doors to the official ‘End of Summer Party’ to mark the end of a remarkably warm and successful season.
The event will see Dj Lazy Daiz, perhaps better known as local record spinner Carl Villarubia, man the decks. Special guest Rudi Tiessler and his live sax performance will also grace the evening.
Gibraltarian author M.G. Sanchez has just released a new novel about Gibraltar. Entitled The Escape Artist: A Gibraltarian novel, it is set in the decade between 1970 and 1980 and features a plot that alternates between Cambridge, Venice and Gibraltar. Professor John A. Stotesbury, adjunct Professor in Postcolonial Literatures from the University of Oulu, has already described the book as “fascinating and highly readable,” while Dr Esterino Adami, an English Literature Professor from the University of Turin, has praised how in the book M. G. Sanchez “brings to the fore a strong sense of Gibraltarian identity.”
