Six soldiers from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment were recently presented with their Long Service and Good Conduct (LS & GC) Medals. The LS & GC Medal is awarded to personnel who have demonstrated 15 years of exemplary and irreproachable conduct.
The Gibraltar FA Veterans Christmas Cup takes place this Sunday the 21st December at the Victoria Stadium's Sports Halls from 10am to 4pm.
There are 12 teams registered for the tournament with each player paying a £5 registration fee. All monies collected from these registration fees will be donated to local charities.
Youngsters from the Dolphins Youth Club recently organised a Christmas hamper to help fund club activities. The prize went to A Harris with ticket number 146.
The Gibraltar Youth Service thanked the community of Gibraltar for participating and buying tickets. It has been a great learning opportunity for the young people involved.
A group of students from Westside School visited Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) Lyme Bay yesterday. Gibraltar Defence Police Community Liaison Officer PC Jo Thompson organised the trip to give the students an insight into life on board the Royal Navy vessel.
Earlier this week Ocean Village raised just over £400 in support of the GBC Open Day Fund, which has reached an all time record of over £100,000. The event saw the public donate spare change to a Money Trail.
Santa Claus returned to the Ocean Village promenade for the fundraising effort, with face painting, badge making and refreshments also available to those participating.
A presentation ceremony took place at Devils Tower Camp recently when seven soldiers from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment received with their City & Guilds Level 1 and 2 Certificates in Maths and English.
