As the Governor-designate Lt Gen Sir James Dutton takes the Oath of Allegiance on Friday in Parliament, Alison MacMillan steps down from her role performing the functions of Governor and Commander-in-Chief.
This weekend will be particularly busy at HM Naval Base with the arrival of two Fridtjof Nansen-class Norwegian Frigates.
The Royal Navy Flagship HMS Bulwark will sail into Gibraltar tomorrow morning on her way back to the UK; this follows a successful deployment to the Mediterranean and Middle East as part of the Cougar ’13 deployment.
The Royal Gibraltar Post Office and HM Customs Gibraltar are pleased to announce that the Parcel Office at 45 North Mole Road will be opening between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 7, Saturday 14 and Saturday 21 December.
The Government says it has been concerned about the number of apes roaming in the area of Mount Alvernia recently. Seasonal movements bring them to feed on fruiting trees in the Mount regularly, but they usually move back up to the Upper Rock. Upon investigating the matter it is suspected that people working on a building site in the vicinity have been feeding the apes thereby attracting them back to the area more than usual, rather than their returning up to the Rock. Management at Mount Alvernia have, particularly in recent weeks, been in touch with the Department of the Environment in order to tackle the issue.
The Royal Gibraltar Police has today launched its pre Christmas drink driving prevention campaign.
The Gibraltar Classic Vehicle Association (GCVA) is supporting Shop in Gibraltar Day this coming on Saturday 7th December. With this objective, the GCVA will be displaying their cars at Casemates between 10:00 and 18:00.
