Apr 03 - Injured Soldiers Treated to Super Yacht Stay

injured soldiersAs reported yesterday, six injured soldiers arrived in Gibraltar yesterday thanks to UK based charity, ‘Give us Time’. The soldiers, Cpl David Bainbridge, Lance Cpl Joe Fiddaman, Trooper Ben Barton, Lance Sgt Lee Sample, Lance Sgt Andrew Wilson and Colour Sgt Thomas O’Donnell all worked with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force which operates deep in Taleban territory, looking for enemy activity or mentoring the Afghan Security Forces away from the main British bases.

The soldiers, who were met at the Airport yesterday by Tourism Minister Neil Costa and Miss World 2009 Kaiane Aldorino will spend their holiday aboard a Gibraltar based Super Yacht.

Apr 03 - RGP Memorial Tree Planting

rgpOn Wednesday 27 March a tree planting ceremony took place at the Alameda Botanical Gardens in remembrance of the late Police Constable Josie Guilling Savignon, who tragically died recently after being involved in a road traffic accident in Spain (she was accompanied by her partner also a Police Constable namely Jensen Santos).

This ceremony has been the initiative of Neighbourhood Policing Team No.3 of which Josie was a member of.

Apr 03 - AzAmazing Event Proves Success

azamazing eveningThis weekend a number of Azamara Quest passengers were treated to an evening of spectacular Gibraltar traditions, including a performance by the Band of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment at St. Michael’s Cave. The event included drinks and local canapés and a brief appearance by the Re-enactment Society who served to show off Gibraltar’s military history and heritage.

The evening was jointly hosted by the Gibraltar Tourist Board, M H Bland and Azamara Club Cruises and concluded with a fireworks display provided by Azamara Club Cruises, before the ship departed from the Port.

fscThe Financial Services Commission has released an app aimed at keeping local firms up to date with regulatory developments. Keen to keep up to date with ever shifting online technologies, the FSC already uses Twitter, RSS Feeds, blogs and Facebook in order for companies to remain in the loop with regulation.

The App has been developed by local Alan Pereira and serves to integrate all this information onto smart phones and tablet devices, which will prove particularly useful for those who are blocked from entering certain sites whilst at work.
