The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The scope for the Mayor’s Award Scheme has been widened in order to recognise individuals or groups who have served Gibraltar in exceptional or voluntary service, over a prolonged period of time. Formerly the Scheme only recognised acts of bravery or those who have helped save a life.
A new Calpe House facility has been announced by the Government, with the amount of space available having quadrupled from the 8 en suite rooms available currently to 36.
While the feud over the safety of the LNG Power Station continues, the Government has rejected Opposition concerns by ‘reassuring the public that the tender for the new dual-fired power station was only awarded after it was established that Liquefied Natural Gas could be safely delivered and stored in Gibraltar.’
