Argus Insurance Company (Europe) Limited have announced that they have teamed up with Bayside Comprehensive School for the second year running. Having sponsored the Youth Team for the 2014/2015 season, they have extended their sponsorship and will be the main sponsor of both the Bayside Youth and Senior Basketball Teams for the 2015/2016 season.
This year’s Clean up the World in Gibraltar will see over twenty teams and hundreds of volunteers roll up their sleeves and together free several sites around Gibraltar of litter and harmful waste. Saturday the 26th September will see Gibraltar’s comprehensive schools, youth clubs, businesses and agencies get busy at various allocated spots for a number of hours as from mid-morning.
The Government has announced that the new Day Centre, specifically geared to elderly service users living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, is to be handed over to the Government by the end of October. The facility is to be staffed by carers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists and will provide daytime care to service users whilst enabling them to return home to their families and care givers in the evenings.
The GSD has said that the latest press release from the Government “dismissing” the concerns expressed by people regarding the advance appointments system at the Primary Care Centre, waiting times at the A & E Department and cancellation of surgery appointments at very short notice as “hearsay” and “preposterous” is “not only arrogance at its worst, but an insult to all those people who have experienced these difficulties on a daily basis.”
A 23-year-old man was jailed for one year and four months after pleading guilty to stealing an estimated £10,000 worth of jewellery from his girlfriend’s terminally ill grandmother.
