The ESG has drawn attention to on-going LNG discussions in Gibraltar with concerns made to the group today of a potential ship to ship LNG transfer to be permitted by the Gibraltar Port Authority from vessels presently in the Bay.
HM Customs have arrested ten Spanish Nationals for being in possession of 108 cartons of cigarettes. The incident took place yesterday around Winston Churchill Avenue within an area demarcated as a Special Zone under the Tobacco Act. All those involved were arrested and have been released on bail. Their two vehicles were also seized.
The Government says it is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Daniella Tilbury as Vice Chancellor (designate) of the University of Gibraltar.
Unite the Union says it feels that it “beggars belief” that the GGCA executive would seek to manipulate the community into believing that they have somehow campaigned for the non-discrimination of employees over the age of 65 when, in reality, according to Unite, “they were pursuing an ageist policy of denying Mr Tampin his rights to access the Industrial Tribunal.”
The GSD says it notes that the Government has commenced legal action in the Spanish courts for rectification and correction against the Spanish daily newspaper ABC in relation to various defamatory remarks made against Gibraltar. Provided that the Government is in possession of advice that the claim is a sound one in law, the GSD Opposition says it is entirely supportive of this step.
