The Gibraltar Government delegates that this week attended the Liberal Democrat party conference in Glasgow took advantage of the event to hold a number of meetings with other Government delegations including the Governments of the Falkland Islands and Jersey.
The Gibraltar Finance Centre, together with members of the Gibraltar Funds and Investments Association will be attending, exhibiting and presenting at Invest ’13 Conference in Geneva on 18th and 19th September 2013.
The Gibraltar delegation is led by Senior Finance Executives Michael Ashton and Philip Canessa. Excellent support by industry partners has resulted in a significant Gibraltar presence that will ensure we maintain an important impact at this key international event.
With a history in the forces stemming back to the 90s, Lieutenant Colonel Colin Risso took the position of Commanding Officer of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment in the late months of 2009. He did so with the intention of sustaining and improving the 55-year-old Unit. Sitting in his large office overlooking the quad of the curiously quiet Devil’s Tower Camp, the CO yesterday explained that taking the regiment one step further should be the aim of any Commanding Officer. ‘Just to make things better for the unit, make things more effective and also make things better for the people in the unit itself.’
Members of the GSD Opposition met last week with the district committee of Unite the Union as part of their ongoing policy of outreach engagement with all members and sectors of the community.
The GSD can report that the meeting had an open agenda and was very fruitful.
This year’s Convent Christmas Fair is due to take place on Thursday 28th November and the hope is that it will be the best ever, offering a superb array of products to get us in the mood for Christmas.
The Finance Centre Department will be exhibiting at the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (“FERMA”) biennial Forum in Maastricht from 29 September to 2 October. The FERMA Forum is the largest European exhibition of
service providers of risk management and insurance services for risk managers and will be attended by over 1,500 risk professionals from around the world.
