Feb 12 - Government Launches Makaton Course

ygtvThe Ministry for Social Services, Ministry for Health and the Ministry for Education have been working together to bring about the delivery of a beginner’s Makaton course. The Makaton language is a multimodal approach to teaching a combination of speech, signs and graphic symbols specifically designed to provide a means of communication to people who cannot communicate efficiently by speaking.

This family-friendly vocabulary course has been organised following recent representations from parents of children who attend St Martin’s School to the Minister for Equality and Social Services, Samantha Sacramento.

Feb 12 - Local Artist’s Successful Second Exhibition

gail francis art Yesterday evening, former Miss Gibraltar 1985 Gail Francis Tiron held an extremely successful launch for her second solo exhibition Day 11: Part 2, which featured works by local artist David Formica-Corsi, Gail’s son Casey Azopardi Francis and budding young artist, 8 year old Emma Dalmedo.

Following her first exhibition Day 11, which propelled Gail into taking her artwork to a higher, more public level, she asked the Fine Arts Gallery whether they had a booking for her second exhibition. Coincidentally the gallery had an opening on the second anniversary of Day 11.

Feb 12 - RGP Seizes CTS Equipment

ctsThe GRA have today announced that steps were taken today, to shut down CTS, who now no longer provide authorised electronic communications services. A search warrant was executed by the RGP, in support of the GRA, and all CTS radiocommunications equipment was seized.

Feb 12 - GGR Launch Website

ggrLocal Equality Rights Group, the GGR recently launched their website at www.equalitygib.org, under the theme ‘Join the Conversation’. The group has also revealed their Facebook group ‘Equality Rights Group’ and twitter page @equalitygib.

Group Treasurer, Andrew Rodriguez noted that the demand for information on the group’s work is slowly increasing as excitement builds up towards the Civil Partnership Legislation release.

Feb 11 - Neighbourhood Policing Facebook Clinic

facebookThe Neighbourhood Policing Unit of the Royal Gibraltar Police will be holding its third online Facebook Clinic on Tuesday the 12th February 2013. The clinic will commence at 6.30pm and will run for an hour.

On this occasion issues in the neighbourhood policing area comprising the Town District and Mid Harbours Estate will be discussed. The aim is for the organisation to inform the residents on the neighbourhood policing response in their area and also to be informed on community concerns.
