The Royal Gibraltar Regiment Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess are about to set the record for the longest cake ever recorded in Gibraltar.
The Marble Cake with Walnuts and Orange Glaze will measure 75 Feet and be on display in Casemates Square on Friday 28th June from 1000 till 1200.
Staff and volunteers at the ADANA kennels, in Estepona’s Pedregales Park, were delighted to be joined by a team of young volunteers from Gibraltar. The team, all of whom are employees of global insurance company AON, had volunteered to help to a much-needed clear-up job on the weeds and vegetation that had grown over the year in the dogs’ exercise runs.
BabySTEPPs will be hosting their biggest event to date: Gibraltar’s first ever Pramathon. Vice-chairperson Louise says “a Pramathon is simply a charity walk WITH prams so we encourage all the family to come along with their buggies and take part in the event. This is a family event, and contrary to other charity walks, we invite all participants young and old to come along and “push” something along the way. Whether it’s a pram, a wheelchair, a toy car, a toy buggy or those tug-a-long toys, bring them with you on Saturday. Let’s make this a fun and memorable event”.
Bayside Comprehensive School recently held a ‘Dress Down’ day in aid of the Gibraltar Society for Cancer Relief as part of the Operation Daffodil Bike Challenge which will start from Norway, just inside the Arctic Circle, and end in Gibraltar in August 2013.
Harry Meenagh, a student at Bayside School, will be cycling part of the journey with the team which includes his father, Wayne. In support of Harry’s efforts, nearly £600 was raised by Bayside students, money which will help fund the following services at the new Cancer Relief Centre:
The Gibraltar Charities Forum will hold its first meeting on Thursday 27th June in the Charles Hunt Room in the John Mackintosh Hall at 6pm.
The aim of this Forum is to offer local registered charities a place to share, discuss and meet. There is an active closed Facebook page of the same name to enable prompt contact between charities.
The Forum has been set up by the founder of the Gibraltar Multiple Sclerosis Support Society to provide a place where charities can communicate and discuss any issues they wish to.
