On its maiden deployment to the Middle East where she will carry out maritime security operations, the Royal Navy Type 45 HMS Defender will stop in Gibraltar this weekend, during which time she will welcome the public on board.
Minister for Tourism, Commercial Affairs, Public Transport and the Port, Neil Costa will be travelling to London to attend a series of meetings as part of the Government’s continuing strategy to promote Gibraltar as a prime tourist destination.

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department investigating an assault that took place in the early hours of Saturday the 17th of May in the area of Landport have arrested two local men. The assault resulted in an 18 year old man receiving serious injuries.
An ongoing investigation into a fire that took place in the area of Transport Lane between 2.45 am and 3.15 am on Saturday the 31st of May 2014 has resulted in a witness appeal by the Royal Gibraltar Police. Officers are keen to speak to a male who may be able to assist police with inquiries, as they were in the area at the time.
