Following reports of tampering and damage having been caused to Natwest ATM (cash tills) on Wednesday and Thursday last week, the RGP mounted an operation resulting in the arrest of Lulian Ciocan, born 23.04.1984, a Rumanian national residing in La Linea, Spain.
The Government has confirmed that this year’s fair will again be held on the old Naval Grounds. The Government also claims that the Opposition “has no compunction in causing uncertainty by spreading the rumour” that this year’s fair might be moved away from the Naval Grounds.

On the 2nd April, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service in London travelled to Gibraltar and took possession of an 8 metre Astec Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) fitted with twin Suzuki 225hp outboard engines and spare Johnson 225hp outboard engine and Suzuki 225hp outboard engines. These were donated by the RGP free of charge to the Balham and Tooting Community Association.
Yesterday, at about 3:20 pm, an RGP Marine crew whilst out on patrol in the area off Europa Point overheard a report being made from Spanish Maritime Rescue service over the Marine Band radio concerning a Search and Rescue operation in progress searching for a 6 metre vessel which was white in colour and drifting 5nm East off Europa Point.
In a meeting giving oral evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee in the UK’s House of Commons last week, Europe Minister David Lidington, told the committee that he ‘would not object to Gibraltar being more closely integrated in some elements of the EU acquis, if that was what Gibraltar wanted.’
The meeting, chaired by the Committee, brought up their recent visit to Gibraltar that saw them hold a question and answer session with Chief Minister Fabian Picardo. Following the session, the Committee also met with Foreign Secretary William Hague to discuss a number of issues that arose.
Unite the Union has announced the programme of events for this year’s May Day on Thursday 1st May. The events are being organised by Unite the Union, with the Ministry of Culture collaborating and assisting to ensure the smooth running of all events.
