Mar 06 - RGP Commissioner Presents Staff Awards

rgp staff awardsAt a presentation ceremony on Tuesday the 26th of February 2013 Commissioner Eddie Yome presented eight members of police staff with certificates recognising loyal service to the Royal Gibraltar Police.

The staff members included; Ms Maria Luisa Pau, Mrs Angela Posso and Mrs Michelle Sisarello who have all served twenty five years with the RGP. Also receiving awards were, Ms Joan Coelho, Ms Sandra Lane, Mrs Macarena Munoz who have worked with the force for twenty years and Mrs Nuria Fagan and Mrs Karen Torres who have worked with the RGP for fifteen years.

Mar 05 - Dolphin’s Youth Club Alcohol Awareness Presentation

dolphins youth Young people from Dolphins Youth Club took part in an alcohol awareness session that was facilitated by John Montegriffo from the Care Agency. The aim of the session was to see the level of awareness amongst members on alcohol-related issues.

The young people were given a chance to wear some “beer goggles” which replicated the experience of being drunk. It quickly became apparent that simple things like walking along a line and passing a football to each other became difficult whilst wearing the goggles.

Mar 05 - GGR Chairman Targeted by US Hate Group

ggrFelix Alvarez, Chairman of Equality Rights Group GGR has been singled out for attention by an infamous US-based hate organization aiming to promote radical ‘Christian’ values. While specifically naming Alvarez and his human rights work, the brief article also targets the whole community of Gibraltar.

‘It would appear the website and entry may well be the work of the Westboro Baptist Church in the USA, an evangelical organisation famous for its ‘God Hates Fags’ slogan, which they have used repeatedly while protesting aggressively at the funerals of US servicemen whom they allege to be homosexual.

Mar 05 - Environment Department Representatives Attend EU Climate Change Event

environmentThe Department of the Environment’s Catherine Walsh and Janine Galliano, as representatives of the Gibraltar Adaptation Working Group, travelled to Ancona, Italy, last week to present the interim results of the climate change adaptation work being carried out in Gibraltar.

The event was also attended by other participating cities in the EU Cities Adapt project as well as representatives from DG CLIMA (the European Union’s Directorate-General for Climate Action). Gibraltar was selected as one of the 21 cities to form part of this project, which is fully funded by the European Union.
