In aid of Childline Gibraltar, Service Police Officer, Master-At-Arms Bobby Stokes will next week carry out a 24-hour charity walk in fancy dress. He is offering the chance to win a cash prize to those who donate £1 and can guess how far Bobby will walk over the 24 hour period. The person closest to his actual distance covered will win half of the total amount raised.
Bringing some of Britain’s top names in comedy to Gibraltar, the Comedy for Africa event promises to both fill it’s audiences with violent bursts of laughter and raise funds for William Hill’s worth while Project for Africa charity as well as Gibraltar’s own Childline.
Four shows will be hosted at the John Mackintosh Hall on Wednesday 27th, Thursday 28th and Friday 29th of November. Acts include Archie Kelly, who made a name for himself in Peter Kay’s ‘Phoenix Nights’ playing Kenny ‘Dalgish’ Senior. Archie has since become a headlining act in a gamut of well know clubs around the UK, including Manchester’s ‘The Comedy Store’. Archie incorporates his Northern wit and razor sharp song parodies into his stand-up. He has formerly toured with Paddy McGuinness and Peter Kay.
Following the recent typhoon in the Philippines, the Rotary Club of Gibraltar has this week made a £2,000 donation to 'ShelterBox'. This is an international disaster relief charity specialising in emergency shelter provision for people in times of crisis.
A group of very talented ladies have got together and organized a Christmas craft fair.
This is taking place on Saturday 23rd November at the Catholic community Centre from 10am to 6pm.
Some of The Rock Crafters work closely with local charities and donate some of the monies they earn to help. The fee they have paid for the tables will also be put into good use by Father Charlie.
The committee of Maroc Atlas held a darts stall at the Fair this summer where money was raised for two charities: Gibmission Africa and Special Olympics Gibraltar. Maroc Atlas is Gibraltar's only 4x4 Club, and was formed in 1994 as a Solidarity group taking supplies to children in the remotest parts of Morocco.
