Now that 2013 is drawing to a close, we thought it would be a good idea to look back at our most popular stories on our website these last 12 months. It was a record-breaking year in many respects: YGTV enjoyed more hits and shares than ever and we expanded our coverage of local stories. The unprecedented Spanish measures at the frontier, the incursions and the fishing protest dominated the headlines during what turned out to be a very busy summer for YGTV and other local media. Many stories about the queues and incursions easily hit the 2-3,000 hits mark and were widely discussed on our social media platforms but what were the top four most read stories of 2013?
Many taking part during yesterday’s Polar Bear Swim at Catalan Bay were doing so for charity. Among them was Jayne Macdonald who had collected around £550 for little Alice who is undergoing treatment for Leukaemia.
The Sunborn floating hotel was returned to Coaling Island this morning by a team of tug boats.

CRIME REPORTS
In his first Christmas message, His Excellency the Governor, Lieutenant-General Sir James Dutton, will reflect on his arrival on the Rock, on a year which has been both exciting and challenging for Gibraltar and also look forward to the coming year.
Given the close and historic ties between the Royal Marines and Gibraltar, the Governor’s appointment as a former Royal Marine is particularly timely, as next year will see the 350th anniversary of the formation in 1664 of the Admiral’s Regiment, later the Royal Marines, as well as the 310th anniversary of the capture of Gibraltar by British and Dutch marines in 1704.
Last Friday The Rotary Club of Gibraltar together with nearly 250 members of the public launched an attempt to gain entry in the Guinness Book of Records. It was for a new category in the book that has not appeared before now.
