Spanish fishermen from La Linea and Algeciras have announced that they plan to come into British Gibraltar Territorial Waters on Sunday morning to remove the artificial reef which is located off the runway.
The next two weeks will see the final week of the Summer Sports & Leisure Programme sponsored by NatWest. Next week promises to be a fun packed with Sports Train and Children’s Corner organising competitions and mini competitions in football, dodgeball, rounders and athletics where children taking part will be competing against the Sports Leaders.
The Minister for Sport Steven Linares this morning officially opened the third Junior Chess International Festival at the Caleta Hotel. The Minister started off play by making the first move in what is one of the most high profile junior chess festivals in the world.
Local artist Guy Valarino will be undertaking a charity “gigathon” around 6 beach locations in Gibraltar on Sunday 25th August in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Guy will be travelling in a 1970’s Type 2 Volkswagen camper van playing a 30 min set of live music at Sandy Bay, Catalan Bay, x2 locations at Eastern Beach, Camp Bay and Little Bay. With the help of a crew of volunteers and members of the Cancer Research Gibraltar branch helping with the logistics, Guy is aiming to complete the whole gigathon in around 6 hours.
